A bomb blast near the Afghan capital, Kabul, has killed at least 10 people.
A bomb blast targeting Vice President Amrullah Saleh has inflicted minor injuries on Saleh and a former Afghan intelligence chief, the BBC reported. Among those killed and injured were Vice President Saleh’s bodyguards.
The bomber struck as Afghan officials and the Taliban were preparing to begin their first formal talks. Saleh is known as the main opponent of the Taliban, but the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
After the bombing, Vice President Saleh reportedly burned one of his hands. He has said that his political journey will not be stopped even if he is targeted.
Afghan officials are confident that talks in Qatar’s right-hand side will begin and the bloodshed will end in order to reach a political agreement.
